Reports have shown that there are more slaves today than there ever have been in the world.
It is happening right under your nose, but "if you're not seeing it, you're not looking for it." says a lady in the YouTube video attached at the bottom of my blog. It is such a hushed and pushed aside industry that not many people even know that it exists.
I know I never even took interest in the subject until I saw the movie "Taken." As soon as the movie ended I was on the internet researching and finding astonishing information on human trafficking.

Below is a chart with a few numbers that are horrifying. These are HUMANS being thrown around like objects!
This chart states that human trafficking is a 32-billion dollar industry, do you realize that is more than Starbucks, Google and Nike combined?!
Children are used for labor and war. Girls and women are used for sex. Humans are used and sold as if they are objects. It is a sick industry that is run by sick individuals. We need to speak up and have a voice for these victims who have had their voice taken from them.

It's crazy how this goes on without the general public knowing it exists. I really didn't know the scale of the situation until I had watched Taken also.
ReplyDeleteIt surely is sad to see so much wrong being done across the world, and the worst part is that most people aren't even aware of the magnitude of this problem.
ReplyDeleteI feel so desensitized. The fact that I'm sitting here, not doing anything about it is a testament to its growth.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a wonderful topic and it is insane how people do not realize this is going on. To a certain point, everyone knows a little bit about this, but I never realized the magnitude of this issue.
